Tornado Survey Results

Given below are summary results for the survey on the tornado that struck Monte Sano on May 20.

Damage:

  • 70 respondents reported trees down for a total of 328 trees.

  • 58 respondents reported roof damage.

  • 27 respondents reported vehicle damage for a total of 48 vehicles.

  • 16 respondents reported window damage for a total of 26 windows.

  • 76 respondents reported various other forms of damage (fences, decks, garages, pools)

  • There were two personal injuries that occurred after the torndao.

I was adequately prepared for the tornado.

  • Disagree: 7.8%

  • Neutral: 23.3%

  • Agree: 53.4%

  • Strongly agree: 9.7%

Many respondents wished that they had a better safe room, a generator, or better emergency supplies.

I was satisfied with the response by the City of Huntsville and Huntsville Utilities.

Many respondents felt that the tornado disaster brought out the best qualities of our neighborhood.
